Intensifier/Accelerator
An intensifier/accelerator features ingredients known to enhance the skin's ability to retain moisture and promote dark, long lasting color without the use of added bronzers.
Natural/Immediate Bronzer
This technology uses natural based extracts to provide immediate color to the skin that lasts 1 to 2 days. Examples of natural bronzers are walnut oil, walnut shell extract, caramel, henna, carrot oil, banana or black tea extract. These natural extracts are considered immediate bronzers because they add additional color to the skin, much like a cosmetic make-up.
Natural Bronzers are designed to encourage the tanning process and establish a base tan, and build a darker natural tan without the use of DHA.
Delayed/Dark Bronzer
This technology uses the self-tanning agent, DHA, to increase dark color. DHA is a sugar cane extract that chemically darkens the protein in the skin, the more DHA used the darker the shade of brown. The color typically lasts for four-to-seven days and is seen within 2 to 4 hours after application. Hand washing is required with the use of DHA tanning lotions.

Tingle Products
A tingle product contains a stimulant ingredient, such as benzyl nicotinate, which stimulates and increases microcirculation of the skin for greater, more intense tanning results. Tingle products are available in a range of intensities from Tingle 2 to Tingle 70. First time users should start with the lowest tingle and work their way up to stronger tingles when they are comfortable. Tingle products should not be used on the face and testing a small area before application is mandatory.
A tingle lotion leaves a red "rash" on your skin. It will go away within an hour. If you want something of the same affect without the burning sensation try a "body blush".

Tanning Lotion Types: What’s Best For You?
- Accelerator (Intensifier):

- Tingle Bronzer:
Used for intermediate and experienced tanners: These products contains chemicals that cause reddening and increase blood flow to the skin. They are available in heated and cooled formulas and act to speed up the repair process of skin causing it to tan faster. Tingle can be very uncomfortable for many people although use over time does help one build up a tolerance to it. Not recommended for sensitive skin.
- Moisturizer:
Recommended for after tanning use, it keeps the skin healthy and will allow your skin to tan quicker and keep your tanned appearance longer. It allows the melanin to be produced more rapidly. It delievers nutrients to the skin and it allows your skin to retain the tanned layers while subsequent layers are added. This combining of multiple layers is how yoru tan continues to darken with future tanning sessions.
